Celebrating Our Expertise

After rounding Bend 4 in our informational writing units of study, we had a chance to reflect back on what we know about informational writing.  Today, Mrs. Morris and Mrs. Metzger's 2nd grade class came to our room to listen to us teach about everything we now know about writing informational pieces.  Now that we have wrapped up and celebrated this unit, we are moving on to learn how to write fairy tale adaptations!

Book Clubs

We are starting another round of book clubs in our classroom.  We had some things we wanted to improve on this time, so we had Mrs. Nash's 4th graders come share their expertise.  They explained to us how they got their clubs started, held each other accountable, and had thoughtful conversations.  We appreciate their willingness to share!  Thank you 4th graders!

We Are Experts!

We finally published our first informational piece in Writer's Workshop. We celebrated by teaching about our topics. As experts, we spoke with confidence, topic lingo, and shared the pieces we've been working so hard on. Next week, we embark on Bend 4 of our Informational Writing unit! We will create short pieces such as brochures, mini-magazines, articles and more!
